Snow and Snowdrops what more could one ask for from February? We had Snowdrops open and snowflakes fluttering down on Wednesday morning.

Tuesday 23rd February 2010

As someone commented on one of my blogs – “We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull, Some have weird names , and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box .”

I had the closest ever encounter with a Sparrowhawk today when one swooped towards me, grabbed a mouse off the patio and then – splat – crashed into the conservatory window right in front of me. Slightly stunned it fluttered onto the snowy grass. Two seconds later a cat pounced at it and it flew off. Three seconds later the camera switched on.

After going to Broadgreen Hospital today I wandered around Liverpool.  The minton tiled floor in St George's Hall is 'revealed' at the moment.  In 1883 it was covered with a wooden dance floor to preserve the tiles and it is only revealed about once every ten years.

The 30,000 tiles were laid in 1852 at a cost of £2,000.  It is 140 feet long and 70 feet wide.  Minton tiles from the Mointon Hollins factory in Stoke-on-Trent can be found worldwide and appear around fireplaces in the White House.

A little grey visitor hunting peanuts in the garden.

Sunday 14th February 2010

Jo lost the ruby from this ring weeks ago.  She found it today down the back of the car passenger seat.  How amazing is that.    This is now the third time a gemstone has come out of one of Jo's rings and been found.

I have a wide ranging collection of little ornaments - cats, frogs, draqgons, toadstools, and all sorts. I think this is my only rabbit.

Cooked the most perfect liver I've ever cooked.

Got the bus to Heswall and  had a walk around Heswall Beacons and along to Gayton. This is Gayton Mill. The Wirral Society was active in trying to get Wirral Borough Council to acquire Listed status for the building. The land around was sold to a builder who was encouraged to convert it into a house as part of a small hpousing development. He also re-built the Dutch Cap roof.

Thursday 4th February 2010

The sprinkle of snow has gone from the back garden as this view from the stairs shows.

Wednesday 3rd February 2010

Having finished Uncle Eric's photos I've now started scanning in Mum and Dad's.

This is my pin cushion.  Although I actually use it for needles.  I got it over the Internet last year and it's great.

Monday 1st February 2010

I just cannot stop photographing the Fieldfare - after all, it may not be around for long.

Sunday 31st January 2010

The garden has a sprinkling of snow again.  If you look closely you might be able to see a Blackbird at the pond (real!), a duck (not real) and a kingfisher (sadly also not real).
