Most fungi are annuals that show their fruiting bodies in the autumn but some can be found at other times of year. There are also perennial fungi like these bracket ones which form attractive layers on rotting wood.
The sky is falling in!! My father just blogged and didn't give a species name (or alternatively mention that he didn't know the species name). I'm alarmed!
You may have heard of Project 365 in whic people post a photograph every day for a year. This is my version – the idea is to post a photo taken every day but I am realistic enough to know that there will be a day or two missed during the year.

ReplyDeleteOK, Sorry. I felt guilty when I posted it but I was just too lazy. I believe it is Trametes hirsuta but I cannot guarantee it.
