New Year's Eve drink

Saturday 31st December 2011

As usual I brought in thr New Year with a non-alcoholic drink but this time it was dandelion and burdock.  I loved this as a child and haven't had it for decades.  |the smell and taste were as good as I remembered.  (Which is a good job as it cost £1.00 for a half pint bottle!)

  1. I had to look up burdock. I have to say, I've never thought of that as anything you might use for a drink!

  2. Monica, it is a drink that goes back centuries in the UK having been recorded here as long ago as the 13th century. It is the root of the birdock that is used, along with the leaves of the dandelion though I suspect the modern version is largely substitute chemicals.

  3. I used to like that too. I had no idea that it could still be bought.
