Tuesday 10th March 2009

The ponds are full of Smooth Newts at the moment. Most of them seem to be female - perhaps the males arrive at the ponds later. The young ones are there all winter round but the adults usually disappear in the autumn.

  1. Ooooh! I'm going to go out and look for newts tomorrow morning. Haven't seen one yet this year, but if they're about up North then we're bound to have some. It's about time I had a dip with the net...

  2. Not a newt in sight :-( Still, my search encouraged me to weed all around the pond so at least that's something.
